The single-player story takes place in Paris during the French Revolution and follows Arno Dorian in his efforts to expose the true powers behind the Revolution. The plot is set in a fictitious history of real-world events and follows the centuries-old conflict between the Assassins, who fight for peace through free will, and the Templars, who seek peace through control.
It also has ties to Assassin’s Creed Rogue, which was released on the same day for previous generation consoles the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is the eighth major instalment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which was released in 2013. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in November 2014.
